Volunteers are essential in the success of any great event, and the Summerfest Rock `n Sole Run is no exception! It will take over 900 volunteers to ensure the safety, accuracy, fun and the highest level of organization necessary to produce the Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age to participate and those under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult (21 years of age or older).

Summerfest Rock `n Sole Run volunteers will receive the following:

  • Official 2015 Summerfest Rock `n Sole Run Volunteer T-shirt
  • One 2015 Summerfest General Admission  ticket; valid any day of Summerfest 
  • One 2015 Polish Fest ticket, valid any day of Polish Fest

Packet Pick-Up - Italian Conference Center
Thursday, June 11: 3:00 - 8:30 pm

Be a part of the anticipation and excitement before the big race!  Packet pick up takes place at the Summerfest Rock `n Sole Run Health & Fitness Expo at the Italian Community Center.  Athletes will pick up event information, race bib numbers and merchandise.  Assist us by distributing t-shirts and race information, greeting runners or providing directional assistance throughout the exhibit hall.


Water Station Setup - Various locations along the course
Saturday, June 13: 5:00 - 11:00 am

If you like to be hands-on as an important component to keeping participants safe and hydrated, the Water Station Setup Team is the spot for you. The team will assist the Water Station volunteers with setup and teardown of each of the Aid Stations along the route. This role involves physical activity and the ability to lift 25 lbs. or more.   If you have a group of 25 or more and are interested in staffing and managing one of our 10 Water Stations, please contact Kat Hawkins at kat@visioneventmanagement.com

Course Marshals - Various locations along the course
Saturday, June 13: 5:30 am - 10:30 am
Help direct participants along the route and be there to support them and cheer them on.  Details will be provided at orientation and as volunteers are dropped off at their specific location.

Bike Teams - Meet at Henry Maier Festival Park, On-Course Support
Saturday, June 13: 6:30 - 9:00 am

Experienced cyclists are needed to escort the lead runners in each event along the route. Bike Team members will not only lead the runners, but will be the first notification to route support staff that lead runners are coming.

Start Line - Located at Henry Maier Festival Park
Saturday, June 13: 5:30 - 8:30 am (Start Line/5K Water Station)
Saturday, June 13: 5:30 - 9:00 am
Saturday, June 13: 5:30 - 11:30 am (Start/Finish Area)
Help prepare the starting line for all participants, then help them get placed in their proper starting corral.

Finish Line - Located at Henry Maier Festival Park
Saturday, June 13: 6:00 am - 11:00 am
Be the first to greet runners as they cross the finish line!  Assist runners in the following areas:

  • Medals - Reward the thousands of participants by giving them their hard earned medal.
  • Food & Beverage Distribution: Distribute post-race snacks to runners.
  • Finish Line Assistants

Will Call Packet Pick-Up - Located at Henry Maier Festival Park 
Saturday, June 13: 6:30 - 9:00 am

Be there to assist participants with this premium service, where they can pick up their race packet, t-shirt and goodies on race morning.

Back of the Pack - Meet at Henry Maier Festival Park, On-Course Support
Saturday, June 13: 6:00 - 11:00 am

Experience the race from a participant perspective!  The Back of the Pack Crew will signify the end of the field and the maximum 16-minutes per mile pace.  They will not start timing until the last person crosses the start line and will be with you throughout the race.  If you cannot keep pace, the Crew will help you as you board the SAG Wagon.  Volunteers must be able to walk 13.1 miles and be in good physical condition.

Post-Race Party - Located at Henry Maier Festival Park

The Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run doesn't end when participants cross the finish line.  That’s when the celebration begins!  There will be music, displays, merchandise sales and places for runners to reunite with family and friends to relax.  Assistance is needed in the following Post-Party areas:

  • Gear Check - Help runner's pick up their gear after the race.
  • Results Tent - Provide racers their unofficial results, and then post official results when they become available. Also, help manage foot traffic within the results tent to keep the lines moving.  
  • Information Tent - Help runners’ friends or family track their progress along the run and answer questions regarding the event and Post-Party.

Kids Run to Read - Located at Henry Maier Festival Park
Saturday, June 13: 9:00 - 11:00 am

Assist our youngest runners as they line up with their age groups, make their way along their 1 mile race course and are reunited with their parents.
